About Me

My photo
Welcome to the Backwoods Art Quilts Blog! I have been drawing, sewing, painting, and quilting for many years, but fiber art is my passion. I love all the creative options available to the fiber artist - there are so many ways to express an idea, a cherished photo or a favorite memory! It combines all the creative ventures I've been doing all my life - as well as dyeing fabric and altering photos. There is so much more to learn and so many things to try! I will share my journey - much of which will be trial and error! as I continue to learn everything I can about fiber art! Please visit my Etsy site - http://www.etsy.com/shop/BackWoodsArtQuilts

Humpty Dumpty Time!

A quick break from art quilting to work on creating a PDF pattern and directions for the Humpty Dumpty Pillow Toys I have been making for over 40 years. Trying to get all the directions right was more difficult than I thought, so I made a new Humpty Dumpty. His name is SKYLAR:

My Humpty Dumpty's smiley face and floppy arms and legs appeal to little ones. The fact that the outer cover is removable and washable appeals to moms and dads.

One of the change I've made to some of the Humpty Dumpty's over the years is to add ribbon to the top for the hair, instead of yarn. SKYE has dark brown satin ribbon on top - a plus for babies looking for something soft to touch! I still make some of them with the traditional yarn hair upon request.

I have made these for over 40 years now, for my own kids and grandkids, as baby gifts, and to sell at craft fairs. I have SKYLAR and some of his Humpty friends, as well as my PDF pattern and directions for sale at my Etsy Shop www.etsy.com/shop/BackwoodsArtQuilts. Hope you can visit!
